| Bio: | ![]() Name: Pansy Siwan (pronounced SHOO-ahn) Parkinson House: Slytherin. The Sorting Hat also considered Gryffindor, due to Pansy's courage and resourcefulness, but this is something that she has never spoken of, not even to her closest friends. Affiliations: A former member of the Inquisitorial Squad, Pansy is expected to become a Death Eater after graduation due to her association with Draco Malfoy and the fact that she is seen as the leader of the Slytherin girls. Pansy, however, is yet to decide whether she is interested in dedicating her life to the Dark Lord in such an irrevocable manner. Date of birth: 27th of October. Background: Pansy is the only child of Ernest and Catrin Parkinson. The Parkinsons are not strictly purebloods, although they certainly present themselves as such. One of the wealthiest families in England, the Parkinsons have always been able to make up for the few Muggle branches in their family tree by being particularly ostentatious when it comes to money. The last few generations of Parkinsons have all married into pureblooded families and it's unlikely to be long before the indiscretions of their ancestors have been completely forgotten, rather than just ignored. Ernest Parkinson works in finance, and has a reputation for making money 'disappear' when necessary, earning him the favour of the Ministry and the upper echelons of wizarding society. Although he is aligned with Voldemort and the Death Eaters, he is not a Death Eater himself, and it has never been expected of him, given that he's of more use while still being able to move amongst the wizarding community without being directly linked to the Dark Lord. Ernest is a loud man, who is all too quick to talk about his own wealth, and is fond of telling tasteless jokes to inappropriate audiences and at inappropriate times. At Hogwarts, he was sorted into Slytherin, a fact that came as a surprise to no one. Catrin (pronounced KAHT-reen) Parkinson was born Catrin Llewelyn and is the oldest daughter of the Swansea Llewelyns, one of the oldest and most respected wizarding families in Wales. Catrin was given a society upbringing, with her mother providing a secondary education whenever Catrin was home from Hogwarts, teaching her the skills required of a perfect pureblood wife and mother. Like Ernest, Catrin was sorted into Slytherin, where she soon demonstrated an uncanny talent for divination and for bossing around the girls in her year. Catrin's parents had expected her to marry a wizard from a similar Welsh bloodline, but in her sixth year at Hogwarts she rebelled, taking up with Ernest, who was a year above her in school. Catrin knew her parents' limits, and by dating Ernest she was able to irritate them thoroughly without any real risk of being disinherited. Loud and obnoxious where Catrin was soft-spoken and refined, Ernest seemed like a foolish match, but Catrin knew better than most gave her credit for at the time. The two married soon after Catrin's graduation, just as Voldemort was beginning to gain power and just as Ernest had secured a lucrative contract with the Ministry of Magic. Pansy was born five years later, by which time Catrin and Ernest had slipped into a fond dislike for each other and their combined family fortune was something to make even the most cultured of eyebrows rise. The Parkinsons settled on the outskirts of Bristol – a compromise between Catrin's Swansea and Ernest's Brighton – where they own an improbably large home. The downside of the location, however, is that Pansy has developed a definite Bristol accent, nothing like the cultured tones that Catrin would have liked. While Pansy has been brought up to possess the social skills of her mother, she is really her father's daughter in more ways than Catrin would like to admit. Pansy has inherited her father's lack of tact and possesses a sense of humour that is perhaps even crueller than Ernest's. One thing that both of her parents taught her, however, is to value money and prestige over all else, even such things as love and romance. Pansy had a pleasant childhood, attending an exclusive girls' boarding school for children of wizarding families and spending time with the children of other families of means during the school holidays. She has strong memories of her first meeting with Draco Malfoy, during which he pulled her hair and she bit his arm. From such an interesting beginning, it seemed only right that they should become friends. Personality: Pansy is able to act cultured and refined when she wants to, thanks to her mother's efforts, but naturally she's loud and rather obnoxious. She genuinely believes that people want to hear anything that she might have to say, regardless of how insulting, boring or self-obsessed that may be. Pansy doesn't know the meaning of surrender. Even when faced with a seemingly impossible situation, she'll keep at it and often succeed against the odds. She's very good at manipulating people, meaning that there's always a smitten fifth year ready to carry her books and that she almost always gets her way. Pansy is very good at reading people, and judging their weaknesses, ready to use them to her own advantage. She's extremely confident (to the point of irritation) and can be a very good friend if it is in her interest to do so. Pansy is snobbish and therefore can miss out on a lot due to her refusal to 'lower herself' to many activities or people. She is not particularly good at anything that requires extended periods of concentration, especially if it's not something she's interested in doing... hence her fail mark in History of Magic! She's cruel, lacks the skill of empathy, and while she's not amoral, she certainly has a very different way of looking at right and wrong than most people do. Basically, she'll do whatever it takes to accomplish a goal, regardless of how many people might be destroyed in the process. Pansy has a mean sense of humour and enjoys humiliating the people that she dislikes. She's always been the leader amongst her female friends, and the easiest way to gain her favour is through flattery and favours. She doesn't have many true friends, although when it comes to those chosen few she is quick to come to their defence. Pansy is not the sort of girl you'd be wise to defy. Her temper is cold and enduring and she would rather ruin an enemy than merely shout at them for a few minutes. To Pansy, revenge isn't just sweet; it's absolutely mandatory. Interests: Pansy loves clothes, and is always begging her parents to bring back the latest fashions from their many trips to Europe. She has a very good sense of style, and although she loves to hear about the extremes of design, she has never fallen prey to outlandish and unflattering clothes. Even without the added benefit of the fashion, Pansy adores France, and dreams of living in Paris when she's ready to settle down. Raised to have a good understanding of culture, Pansy has an educated appreciation of fine art and classical music, with a broad knowledge – and love – of jazz thrown in, courtesy of her father. In contrast, Pansy has no time for sport, with her sole interest in Quidditch being the chance to watch Draco play. She is happy to celebrate a Slytherin victory but, even after six years at Hogwarts, she wouldn't be able to give even a basic summary of the rules. Pansy isn't much of a reader, choosing to stick to magazines for entertainment, rather than books. She is, however, fond of reading the occasional biography. Alliance: While it may be true that all things are not black and white, Pansy's as close to black as it comes. She cares little for other people, except for in terms of what they can do for her. She is interested only in building a life of wealth, leisure and social prestige for herself, and she learnt at a young age that humanitarianism doesn't lead to riches. She cares little for Voldemort's personal agenda, but she will stand with his followers, as that is the easiest, and most lucrative, path for herself. Sexuality: Pansy is heterosexual, but she'd do anything to get her own way, and if flirting with or seducing her female classmates is required in order to achieve an important goal, then she's not about to let a preference for boys interfere. Romance: Romantically, Pansy has spent a large proportion of her life waiting around for Draco to fall head over heels in love with her. They've known each other since childhood and are commonly expected to marry and mingle the family fortunes once their schooling has been completed. Despite being extremely close, however, Draco and Pansy have never actually dated, beyond accompanying each other to school functions. Although she has received plenty of offers from other boys, Pansy is effectively saving herself for Draco and has always been happy to wait for him to grow up enough to recognise the soulmate who has always been waiting at his side. Although this may seem like a show of weakness on Pansy's behalf, it's actually a good indication of her incredible emotional strength and overall dignity. She has long learnt to steel herself against the disparaging remarks of her housemates and the downright cruel comments of her enemies. Draco is a goal to Pansy, just like any other, and she will stop at nothing to achieve that goal, ignoring any minor irritations that get in its way. Due to this resolve, Pansy, more than any other, has the ability to destroy Draco. Harry may dislike Draco but, as the saying goes, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. If Pansy were ever to feel like all her years of waiting had been for nothing, then Draco had better watch out. A pissed off Pansy Parkinson is not a pleasant sight to behold. Classes: Pansy is intelligent, but not bookish, meaning that her marks are not as high as she would be capable of achieving if she placed a little more importance on the skills that can be learnt from professors and text books. Pansy's favourite (and best) subjects are Divination and Herbology, unusual choices for a Slytherin, but she doesn't take kindly to criticism of her preferences. As mentioned earlier, Pansy's mother is well known for her divination talents and although Pansy hasn't inherited all of her mother's skill, she is certainly one of the most capable students in Hogwarts, thriving in particular under the teaching of Firenze, despite her often-voiced reservations about being taught by a beast. She enjoys Herbology because there is little need for long hours in the library, with a good proportion of the class assignments being practical in nature. Although unimpressed by the number of Hufflepuffs (and Longbottoms – one is far too many) in the NEWT level Herbology class, Pansy is not the type to let something as minor as unpleasant company detract her from her chosen path. She is fond of pottering – or potting – in the greenhouses and has a begrudging respect for Professor Sprout, although it's not something she talks about. Pansy's other classes are Charms, Ancient Runes and Potions. The rumour that Pansy only achieved the OWL result required to continue studying Potions through the continued assistance of Draco is not entirely unfounded, although she's fascinated by poisons and potions that allow the maker to put someone under their control. OWL Results: Transfiguration – A Defence Against the Dark Arts – P Potions – E Charms – E Herbology - O Care of Magical Creatures - P History of Magic – P Ancient Runes - E Divination – O Astronomy - A Pets: Pansy owns a Siamese cat called Demeter, who has been known to keep half of Slytherin awake at night with her yowling. Demeter is definitely a one-owner cat, and doesn't take kindly to other people's attempts to pat her or pick her up. When Pansy needs to send a message, she usually borrows a friend's owl. Appearance: The Gryffindors are fond of saying that Pansy looks like a Pug, and it's true that her nose is her most hated feature, being more rounded than the norm and turning up at the end in a less-than-delicate manner. Aware that it looks better – even attractive – in profile, she has mastered a skilful tilt of the head that hides the worst of her nose's flaws. Pansy has dark grey-blue eyes and long brown hair, which she tends to wear loose and straight, occasionally pulling it back into a simple ponytail if it's getting in the way. Very pale, she avoids spending too much time in direct sunlight as she is prone to getting burnt. Small-busted, Pansy is broad over the hips and thighs, although she is good at dressing to suit her figure, so it's not something that a passing glance would reveal. She doesn't wear a lot of makeup, but is fond of black eyeliner. The exact amount she wears tends to depend a lot on her mood. (This is a roleplaying journal associated with The Waste Land.
